Super duplex grades (UNS S32760, S32750) contain higher chromium (25%) and molybdenum (3-4%) than standard duplex (22% Cr, 2-3% Mo), providing superior chloride pitting and stress corrosion resistance. Super duplex is recommended for more aggressive environments like seawater applications.

2. Can super duplex pipes be welded using standard stainless steel welding methods?

Yes, super duplex can be welded using GTAW (GTAW), SMAW, and FCAW methods. However, matching filler metals (e.g., AWS E2594) with higher nickel content are required to maintain ferrite-austenite balance and prevent precipitation of harmful phases. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required.

3. What is the maximum service temperature for super duplex steel pipes?

Super duplex is suitable for service temperatures from -50°C to 300°C. Above 300°C, long-term exposure may cause sigma phase embrittlement. For cryogenic applications below -50°C, consult manufacturer for specific grade recommendations.
